What will my child walk away with? The critical thinking skills, cultural awareness, and genuine intellectual confidence to engage with complex ideas and grow into thoughtful, compassionate leaders. My doctoral research at OISE explored the experiences of students in bilingual programs through the lens of Critical Race Theory and Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, and that research shapes how I design every learning experience.
What can families expect? An inclusive, inquiry-driven classroom where students feel genuinely seen, heard, and challenged. I also work as an Academic Coach supporting students with executive functioning skills across Ontario, which means I understand the practical side of how students organize and sustain their academic effort.
What does class actually feel like? Thoughtful, inclusive, and genuinely rigorous. I create spaces where students are encouraged to ask hard questions and engage with challenging material from their own perspective. Before graduate school I taught English as a Foreign Language in Seoul, South Korea, and that international experience informs the range of approaches I bring to the room.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I draw on Critical Race Theory and Asian Critical Theory to push students toward more sophisticated readings of the texts and systems they encounter. A capable student who can analyze surface meaning needs to learn to analyze the assumptions and power structures embedded beneath it.

My research is fundamentally about what it feels like to be a student navigating an educational system that was not always designed with you in mind, and my teaching is the practical response to that research.
