What will my child walk away with?  Your child will gain an appreciation for the joys of reading, the ability to critically discuss  literature, and confidence in their own writing.

What can families expect?  Families can expect a spirited teacher who treats students with respect. Zev encourages and challenges their students to learn.

What does class feel like?  Class feels like a space where challenging but rewarding work mixes with fun characters, and literature comes to life. Children will feel empowered to engage with the course material and their learning will unlock a deeper sense of understanding in life.

How do you challenge a curious mind?  Zev gives students the tools to do what it is they are excited about. Each student learns in a unique way, so Zev pays attention and provides what resonates. Zev looks for a balance where each student feels the progress they’re making toward their goals and has the space to grapple with challenging concepts. Zev draws from their artistic background to encourage experimentation and expression.

Credentials and Experience  Zev earned their B.A. from Brown University as a double major in Computer Science and Visual Art, and is now pursuing a Master’s in Art Education at Hunter College. They did engineering and design work at Upsolve.org, a free nonprofit web-app that helps thousands of low-income families file bankruptcy. They teach at NYC Public Schools and community-based orgs such as Beam Center. Zev teaches Visual Art, Performance, and Computer Science to learners of all ages, and teaches English and Math to K-8 youth.
