Emma Mason
Honours B.Sc. (Psychology), B.Ed. (Cand.)Subject: Math and Problem Solving
What will my child walk away with? Real confidence with math fundamentals and a genuine sense of how the concepts they’re learning show up in everyday situations, not just on a worksheet.
What can families expect? Warm, encouraging support shaped by a psychology background that helps me understand what a student actually needs to feel confident, not just what the material requires.
What does class actually feel like? Welcoming and patient. Students are encouraged to ask questions freely, because feeling heard and understood is just as important to me as getting the right answer.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I help curious students notice the real-life connections behind a math concept, drawing on experience tutoring learners of many different ages and abilities.
Credentials and Experience: I hold an Honours BSc in Psychology from York University and am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education at Wilfrid Laurier University toward becoming an Ontario Certified Teacher. I have experience tutoring students in mathematics and English, and I have volunteered as a teaching assistant in an elementary school, providing one-on-one support to students who needed extra help.
Why Emma? Why Brain Power?
I believe every student deserves to feel heard, supported, and respected in the classroom, and that belief shapes how I approach every math lesson. Brain Power students get an instructor who genuinely wants them to build confidence and find real enjoyment in learning math.
