What will my child walk away with? A natural curiosity about mathematics and the confidence to express their reasoning clearly — developed through instruction from someone who won Gold Medals in both Physics and Mathematics during her undergraduate and postgraduate years, began her career in robotics research at Indian Institute of Technology, and has spent over 20 years bringing that level of mathematical depth into the classroom.
What can families expect? A teacher who builds meaningful connections with students and meets them at their individual energy levels, believing that these relationships are essential for genuine mathematical growth. Before joining Brain Power, I led outreach programs for gifted students at the University of Toronto’s Mathematics Department — which means I have a precise understanding of what capable students need and how to deliver it.
What does class actually feel like? Warm, curious, and intellectually alive. I enter the classroom every day with a commitment to sparking a natural interest in mathematics, making it both enjoyable and accessible. Students who arrive uncertain about their mathematical identity consistently leave with a more honest and more generous sense of what they are capable of.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I encourage students to think critically about mathematical problems and express their reasoning clearly — not just arrive at a correct answer. My experience developing mathematics curriculum for Grades 6 through 12 and guest lecturing on Mathematical Methods in Engineering and Science at IIT gives me a precise understanding of what rigorous mathematical thinking looks like at every level, and I design toward that standard from the first class.
