Subject: Language Arts
What will my child walk away with? A stronger foundation in critical thinking, a more confident relationship with their own learning, and exposure to teaching practices specifically designed to reach diverse learners. My M.Ed. research at the University of Ottawa focused on culturally relevant teaching, Universal Design for Learning, and inclusive classroom practices, and those frameworks shape everything I design.
What can families expect? A teacher with significant experience designing and delivering interactive lessons for students from kindergarten through middle school, whose approach emphasizes differentiated instruction, multimedia integration, and genuine student confidence. My research assistant work in the non-profit sector on systemic challenges in education gives me a broader perspective on what students actually need to succeed.
What does class actually feel like? Inclusive, interactive, and thoughtfully structured. I believe every student can thrive when the instruction is designed carefully enough, and I bring that conviction into how I plan and deliver every class. Students consistently feel both supported and genuinely challenged in my classroom.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I give curious students problems that connect to real systems and real questions rather than contained academic exercises. My research on how racialized students navigate learning environments has given me a sharp awareness of what genuinely engaging material looks like, and I use that awareness to design challenges that feel meaningful rather than arbitrary.

Why Cheyenne-Raine? Why Brain Power?
My graduate research showed me the gap between what the curriculum promises and what students actually experience, and my teaching is the practical response to that gap. Brain Power’s commitment to genuine enrichment and genuine inclusion is the standard I have always worked toward.
