Subject: Math and Problem Solving

What will my child walk away with? A fundamentally different relationship with mathematics: one where the subject is interesting, achievable, and genuinely relevant rather than arbitrary or intimidating. My doctoral training across the Dnipro State University and the University of Alberta, combined with decades of teaching from grade school through post-degree levels, has given me a precise understanding of the three obstacles that prevent students from loving math — and exactly how to address each one.

What can families expect? A teacher with a three-part philosophy built from genuine experience: make math interesting, make math possible, and make math relevant. Each of those commitments is backed by specific instructional strategies, not just good intentions, and students consistently discover that mathematics is far more engaging than they expected.

What does class actually feel like? Energetic, narrative-driven, and genuinely exciting. I bring a storyline to my classes, using energy and enthusiasm to guide students along a path where each new concept follows naturally from the previous one. Mathematics taught well has a satisfying internal logic, and I make that logic visible and enjoyable.

How do you challenge a curious mind? I make sure students understand that while a problem may be long or difficult, they have all the tools needed to solve it. That confidence — the knowledge that difficulty is not the same as impossibility — is the foundation from which genuine mathematical ambition develops, and I build it deliberately in every student.

Credentials and Experience Two Ph.D.s in Mathematics, from Dnipro State University and the University of Alberta. Extensive teaching experience spanning grade school through college, university, and post-degree levels, in classroom, online, and one-on-one settings. Deep expertise in making mathematics interesting, accessible, and relevant to real life across a wide range of student ages and backgrounds.
