Elaheh Lotfi
B.Sc. (Mathematics and Computer Science), M.Sc. (Mathematics), Ph.D. (Cand.) Mathematics
What will my child walk away with? Genuine problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, built through clear explanation and consistent practice that helps ideas truly stick.
What can families expect? Student-centered instruction from an educator who has supported teacher development and student success at an institutional level, so every lesson is delivered with real pedagogical care and attention.
What does class actually feel like? Engaging and clearly explained. I focus on making sure students genuinely grasp why the math works, not just how to follow the steps in front of them.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I draw on my own research background and experience teaching everything from Calculus to Graph Theory and Python to help curious students see the deeper ideas behind a problem, not just the fastest way to an answer.
Credentials and Experience I hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mathematics from leading universities in Iran, completed a research internship at Université de Paris, and am currently pursuing a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Toronto. As a Teaching Assistant at the University of Calgary from 2022 to 2024 and the University of Toronto from 2024 to 2026, I led tutorials and supported instruction across Calculus, Linear Algebra, Algebra, Differential Equations, Graph Theory, and Python. Prior to joining Brain Power as Academic Head, I served as Vice Principal at Spirit of Math, where I supported student success, teacher development, and academic programming.
Why Elaheh? Why Brain Power?
I’ve built my career on the belief that real confidence in math comes from deep understanding, not memorized shortcuts, and that belief has shaped how I’ve supported teachers and students throughout my career. Brain Power students get an instructor who brings both hands-on teaching experience and genuine academic leadership to every lesson, always aimed at curiosity, critical thinking, and academic excellence.
