What will my child walk away with? A genuine growth mindset and the foundational problem-solving skills to tackle challenges independently. I care deeply about students building knowledge from a strong base before moving to advanced material, because when students develop solid foundations, they can go further, and think more flexibly, later on.
What can families expect? A student-centered classroom where curiosity is taken seriously and thinking is made visible. Students are not just learning content, they are learning how to approach complex problems with persistence and clarity. I have spent over a decade developing curriculum and teaching math to bright students, and I know what it takes to keep capable learners genuinely engaged.
What does class actually feel like? Active, collaborative, and encouraging. Students work through problems, discuss approaches with peers, and develop the confidence to tackle difficult material on their own. I prioritize creating the right learning environment first, because when students feel supported and challenged, meaningful learning follows.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I give students problems that require genuine thinking, not pattern-matching. Bright students who have learned to succeed by recognizing familiar problem types need to be placed in situations where the familiar approach does not quite work, and that productive struggle is where real mathematical thinking develops.
