What will my child walk away with? The confidence to take real intellectual risks, and the self-belief that comes from being genuinely empowered in their learning. My experience teaching across multiple grade levels with the Peel District School Board, combined with a deep commitment to positivity and student agency, gives me a clear understanding of what it takes to build an independent thinker.
What can families expect? A dedicated, passionate educator who firmly believes that when children are empowered to take chances in their learning they gain the confidence and self-esteem to become risk-takers and independent thinkers. I also believe deeply in the partnership between educators and families, and I work to maintain that relationship actively.
What does class actually feel like? Warm, positive, and genuinely encouraging. I bring a firm belief in the power of positivity into every classroom I teach, not as a substitute for rigor but as the foundation that makes rigor sustainable. Students who feel genuinely supported take bigger intellectual risks, and bigger risks produce better learning.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I design learning experiences that place real responsibility on the student — where the quality of the outcome depends on the quality of their thinking, not on following a template. Curious students who are already capable need to experience what it feels like to own their learning fully.

Why Julie Ann? Why Brain Power?
I left a successful business career to follow my passion for teaching, and that choice reflected a genuine conviction that empowering young people to become confident, independent thinkers is among the most important work there is. Brain Power’s model is built on exactly that conviction.
