B.A. (Geography, Sociology), B.Ed.
Subject: Language Arts (Primary and Junior)
What will my child walk away with? A genuine love of learning rooted in a positive, supportive classroom experience, and the foundational literacy skills that make every subsequent academic challenge more manageable. My 35 years of active teaching with the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board give me a deep, practical understanding of how primary and junior students actually learn.
What can families expect? A dedicated, hard-working teacher who is passionate about creating a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment. My love for teaching continually inspires me to design motivating lessons and activities, and my commitment is always to provide the best possible learning experience so students develop a lifetime love of learning.
What does class actually feel like? Warm, encouraging, and full of genuine curiosity. I have spent more than three decades learning what actually engages young students and what loses them, and I bring that accumulated wisdom into every lesson I design. Students feel genuinely seen and supported in my classroom.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I follow the student’s curiosity and extend it deliberately. A young learner who is already engaged needs a teacher who can build on that engagement with increasingly complex questions and challenges, and my experience across 35 years of primary and junior teaching gives me a precise sense of how to calibrate that progression.
Credentials and Experience B.Ed., Queen’s University (Primary and Junior Divisions). Honours B.A. in Sociology and Geography, University of Toronto. Thirty-five years of active teaching with the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board across primary and junior grades.
Why Lisa? Why Brain Power?
I have spent more than three decades in primary and junior classrooms because I genuinely believe that the experiences students have in their earliest years of formal learning shape everything that follows. Brain Power’s commitment to genuine enrichment at every level is the standard those foundational years deserve.
