What will my child walk away with? The confidence to express their ideas freely, along with real reading and writing growth built through play, games, and interactive activities rather than repetition alone.
What can families expect? A warm, structured-but-creative approach shaped by teaching learners ages 5 to 15 across afterschool programs, ESL classrooms, online lessons, and community-based settings.
What does class actually feel like? Playful and genuinely engaging. Learning through play and interactive activities isn’t a break from the lesson, it is the lesson, and students stay curious because of it.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I draw on my background in cognitive science to notice how a student actually processes language, then adjust my approach so curiosity leads to real skill rather than frustration.
Credentials and Experience I hold an Honours BSc in Psychology and Cognitive Science from the University of Toronto and an MEd in Language and Literacies Education from OISE. I have taught and supported learners across adult ESL classrooms, online English lessons for children ages 5 to 15, afterschool programs, and community-based children’s programs.
Why Millie? Why Brain Power?
I believe students learn best when they feel encouraged, curious, and actively involved, not simply instructed at. Brain Power students get an instructor who blends real cognitive science with genuine creativity, so building confidence and a lifelong excitement for learning happens at the same time as building skill.
