Olivia Neu
B.A. (Classics, Theatre), M.T. (Junior/Intermediate) — OISESubject: Math & Problem Solving
What will my child walk away with? Stronger math skills built on a growth mindset, where progress matters more than perfection, so students leave genuinely willing to take on a new problem instead of avoiding it.
What can families expect? Patient, individualized support from an educator experienced meeting students at very different levels, having supported multiple grade levels of learning happening in the very same room.
What does class actually feel like? Encouraging and low-pressure. Mistakes are treated as part of making progress, not as something to be embarrassed about.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I adjust how I explain a concept to meet a curious student exactly where they are, drawing on experience supporting students across a wide range of levels and needs at once.
Credentials and Experience: I completed my BA in Classics with a minor in Theatre from Laurentian University and my Masters of Teaching from OISE at the University of Toronto in the Junior/Intermediate division with a focus in drama. Since graduating in 2022, I have tutored students in Grades 2 to 5 on foundational math and language skills, and I have taught at a private school for students with autism, supporting multiple grade levels within a single small class and working on both academic progress and life skills.
Why Olivia? Why Brain Power?
I believe deeply in progress over perfection and in building a genuine growth mindset in every student I work with. Brain Power students get an instructor who is patient with where they’re starting from and genuinely invested in helping them build real confidence in math, one step at a time.
