What will my child walk away with? Clear learning goals, the critical thinking habits to work toward them, and the genuine belief that they are capable of achieving more than they expected. My 32 years with the York Catholic District School Board, teaching from FDK through Grade 8, have given me a precise understanding of what high-quality instruction looks like across the full range of primary, junior and intermediate learning.

What can families expect? A teacher who believes in setting clear learning goals and differentiating instruction to accommodate diverse needs, ensuring no student is left behind. I build positive classroom environments rooted in honesty and mutual respect, because I know from experience that those conditions are what make high academic standards achievable.

What does class actually feel like? Structured, warm, and genuinely motivating. I challenge students to become critical thinkers while making sure they have the support they need to rise to that challenge. Students consistently tell me that they feel both held to a high standard and genuinely cared about in my classroom.

How do you challenge a curious mind? I give curious students problems that require genuine reasoning rather than pattern recognition. After 32 years of teaching across FDK through Grade 8, I have a detailed understanding of what appropriately challenging material looks like at each developmental stage, and I use that knowledge to calibrate difficulty individually rather than applying a single standard.
