What will my child walk away with?  A sharper ability to think critically about whose voices and perspectives are represented in what they read, along with real confidence contributing to collaborative discussion.

What can families expect?  Award-winning instruction grounded in over a decade of teaching across History, Language Arts, the Social Sciences, Humanities, and Music in Canada and the United States.

What does class actually feel like?  Collaborative and community-oriented. Discussion is central, and every student’s perspective genuinely shapes where the conversation goes.

How do you challenge a curious mind?  I bring the intersectional critical lens from my research in migration, diaspora, and gender and sexuality studies to help students ask more nuanced questions about the material in front of them, encouraging them to consider whose voices are present and whose are missing.

Credentials and Experience  I hold a Bachelor of Music with Honours Specialization in Music Education from the University of Western Ontario, a Bachelor of Education from OISE, a Master of Arts in Ethnomusicology/Anthropology from the University of Toronto, and a PhD in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Toronto. I have received Teaching Excellence Awards in 2019 and 2021 from the Women and Gender Studies Institute at the University of Toronto and University of Toronto Mississauga, and my research has been published in journals including the Caribbean Review of Gender Studies, the Journal of Indentureship and its Legacies, and Theatre Research in Canada.
