Samantha Camardo
Honours B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed.
Subject: Math and Problem Solving
What will my child walk away with? A more expansive understanding of what education can be, rooted in the conviction that learning is a holistic practice that extends well beyond the classroom walls. My M.Ed. combined with a graduate diploma in Language and Literacy, additional qualifications in Mathematics and Special Education, and membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society reflect the breadth of commitment I bring to every student I teach.
What can families expect? A teacher whose philosophy is grounded in Bill Nye’s observation that everyone you will ever meet knows something you do not, which means every student brings genuine knowledge and lived experience that belongs in the learning environment. I honor that knowledge and build on it rather than replacing it.
What does class actually feel like? Warm, inclusive, and genuinely passionate. My love of education traces back to my grandfather Diego, an immigrant from Italy whose belief in the transformative power of learning shaped everything I do in the classroom. Students feel that personal investment, and it matters.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I design learning experiences that connect to students’ genuine lives and extend their thinking outward into the world, because I believe the most durable intellectual growth happens when students understand why what they are learning matters beyond the assignment. Curious students need teachers who take their questions seriously and push them toward bigger ones.
Credentials and Experience M.Ed., with simultaneous graduate diploma in Language and Literacy. B.Ed. Honours B.A. in Law and Society. Additional qualifications in Mathematics and Special Education. Member by invitation of the Golden Key International Honour Society, York University. Volunteer with Toronto’s Inner City Outreach Program and The Shoebox Project.
Why Samantha? Why Brain Power?
I became a teacher because my grandfather showed me that education is one of the most powerful forces for possibility in a person’s life, and I have never stopped believing that. Brain Power’s commitment to inspiring genuine lifelong learning in students who are already curious is exactly the mission I want to contribute to.
