What will my child walk away with? The analytical habits and genuine scientific curiosity of someone mentored by a researcher currently enrolled in the combined MD/PhD program at the University of Toronto with a focus on cancer genomics. My background spans molecular techniques, RNA biology, data analysis, and extensive mentorship experience across teaching assistant, academic mentor, and learning strategist roles.
What can families expect? A teacher who is deeply passionate about mentoring students in STEM and medical research, and who tailors his approach by carefully listening to and observing each student to identify their unique needs. I believe that fostering genuine appreciation for critical thinking is the most valuable thing a science and mathematics teacher can do, and I bring that conviction to every class.
What does class actually feel like? Curious, personalized, and genuinely rigorous. I have worked and volunteered in educational capacities across multiple institutions, and that breadth of experience has given me a clear understanding of the range of ways students engage with complex scientific and mathematical concepts. Students feel genuinely attended to in my classroom.
How do you challenge a curious mind? I connect the mathematical and scientific concepts students are learning to the research problems they make possible — including the cancer genomics questions I work on daily. A curious student who understands that the analytical tools they are building have genuine applications in medicine, biology, and data science engages with those tools at a fundamentally different level.
