What Happens in Every Class
Concept Instruction
Each class opens with a new idea built through guided discussion and hands-on activities. Students reason through place value, measurement, and operations together before touching a single worksheet.
Applied Problem Solving
Students apply new concepts to word problems and real scenarios, practicing multiple strategies. The emphasis is always on reasoning through the problem, not just arriving at an answer.
Logic and Strategy Challenges
Every class includes a logic or strategy puzzle that sits outside the day’s main concept. These build the kind of flexible reasoning that straightforward computation practice cannot.
Homework Review and Discussion
Homework is never just marked correct or wrong. Students explain their thinking, instructors give targeted feedback, and misconceptions get addressed before they become ingrained.
Curriculum Spotlight
Mini Market
In Lesson 26, the classroom transforms into a small market. Students are given a fixed budget and a choice: which shapes to buy, how many, and how to use their money wisely.
Earlier in the program, students learned to recognize and describe 2D and 3D shapes. Then, they built on that knowledge by constructing 3D shapes from nets, understanding how flat forms become solid objects. Along the way, they also developed fluency with coins and bills, learning how to count, compare, and combine values.
Now, all of that knowledge converges. Working in groups, students use money to purchase nets of 3D shapes, construct them, and then sell their finished products back to their teacher for a profit. They must decide what to buy, how much they can afford, and whether their choices will pay off.
Every entrepreneur, engineer, and designer who has ever turned materials into something of greater value has done exactly this.
